PRP for hair

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a treatment that uses your own blood to support the scalp and hair follicles, and is used by some patients as part of a broader approach to hair thinning or hair loss.

HOW IT WORKS A small blood sample is taken and processed to isolate the platelet-rich plasma, which contains growth factors involved in tissue repair. This is then applied to the scalp, targeting areas of concern.

WHAT TO EXPECT PRP is generally recommended as a course of treatments rather than a single session, with a plan tailored to your individual concerns at consultation. Any changes to hair density or thickness happen gradually over time and are not guaranteed — outcomes vary between individuals, and not everyone will respond to treatment in the same way.

POTENTIAL RISKS As with any scalp injection-based treatment, potential risks include pain or tenderness at the injection site, bruising, swelling, infection, and temporary shedding before improvement (if any) is seen. Your suitability for this treatment will be assessed at consultation.

AFTERCARE Aftercare guidance will be provided by Lisa following treatment, which may include avoiding washing your hair for a period of time, avoiding strenuous exercise, and protecting the scalp from sun exposure. Specific instructions will be tailored to your treatment.
